As you walk around the top of town, you see a whole array of clothing outlets, and as you come to a little corner of the square, you see a curious little boutique with an interesting sign.

Montecito was established in 1978. Jo Thomas the proprietor became a customer there in 2001 when she started to visit Ruthin regularly.  On one of her visits In 2007 the owners informed Jo that they were going to retire and if no-one bought the shop by the April then it would have to close.

So Jo decided to take the plunge and bought it!

She learned that most of her customers wanted clothes that were of a good quality, and just that little bit different. So to reflect this, the businesses labels this season are: Masai; Bitte Kai Rand; Vetono; One Life clothing; Out of Xile and FDJ jeans.

Jo and her team deliver a completely tailor made service (pardon the pun) "My customers tell me that they enjoy just popping into the shop and playing with the clothes. They know that we will give them an honest opinion – and we don’t mind if they walk out without buying. We would rather lose a sale than a customer".

I did ask her if my bum looked big in my jeans and I did get an honest opinon!!  The great thing about Moneticito is that they have labels you won't find anywhere else in the area, there is always that horrid realisation that if you go to get your outfit for that dinner from your high street chain, then there is bound to be someone showing up in something similar, or even worse... the same!!  Jo and her team are not just passionate about what they stock, but they are also passionate about how their clothes make you feel.  You can have a private appointment where you can browse through the collections at your own pleasure, and be given sound and honest advice from Jo or any member of her team.  The shop also stocks independent retailers work through Candles and other items, they are beautiful and the smell is divine!  Showing that the Shop and it's owner not only care about their customers, but also about keeping it local, and supporting other retailers and businesses in the town whilst they are at it.

The shops opening hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 5.30pm; Saturday 10am to 5.00pm, and if you can't make it between those times?  You can come earlier or later by appointment.  Contact 01824703905
