Agenda for Open Meeting Tuesday 10th January
1. Michelle Rendell the Denbighshire Development Officer will be visiting us to discuss in more detail the Town Report being compiled which will give businesses an insight into the footfall, consumer profile, and cross section of our town. This will be invaluable to business deciding which direction to head in for a brighter future, and a fantastic opportunity to meet a lady who holds a wealth of information for you and your business. (Very interesting!)
2. One Way System and Parking - We will be reviewing the e-mail sent from Highways after the meeting Mr Elwyn Edwards attended on behalf of the Chamber on 22nd December at Llys Goodman. The update requests if we will withdraw our objections as a Chamber- Please find below the E-mail from Highways and the Letter of Objection from 2011. You and your businesses decide.
3. Street Representatives - We appreciate that not all business owners/representatives are free for every meeting. If you would like to nominate a representative for your street then come to the meeting and nominate, this street representative will update you with important Chamber information and be responsible for making sure that matters important to you reach the table in your absence.
4. Network Ruthin - Do you and your business know what is available within this Vale? Or even this town? Has someone done work for you, and you would recommend them to another? There is potential for Ruthin to start it's own Network of business to spread the word about your own, and other peoples businesses. We would like feedback from you as business owners as what parts of Networking would be of use to you, what times, dates and locations make it easy for you as business owners to attend, and how you think it should work.
5. Town Team / Ruthin Town Plan - The previous partnership (Bro Rhuthun / Ruthin Forward / Chamber of Trade / Ruthin Civic Committee) have joined forces in 2011 and are now looking towards the future with DCC to shape the Town Plan - A draft plan which has the opportunity for you to give feedback and shape the objectives and goals of the Town and it's future. Running along a similar vein to the Mary Portas Report, what can we pull out of it to help the Ruthin Town Plan, and ultimately help your businesses?
All very exciting topics which YOU have the chance to input into, and shape. The Meeting is held on Tuesday January 10th, Ruthin Castle, 6.30pm.
We look forward to seeing you....

Agenda
- Update of Contact with DCC
- Proposed Loading Restrictions through One Way System
- Proposal of Town Co-Ordinator
1. Meeting opened with discussion regarding the request of updates from DCC Chief Exec and Council Leader Hugh Evans. Regarding the move of Wrexham having a delegated free Car Park, and parking being announced for free in other areas, the subject arose of how we are position ourselves as a body to get free parking. RHM will investigate how many free days the town council allocate every year for free parking, and when they have been assigned, to see if it could be planned for every Saturday in December to be free to help boost shoppers and visitors to the town.
It was felt with the boost being given to the regeneration of Coastal areas, that it was a relatively small request for a rural town to be given subsidised parking to help boost the areas trade.
Action – Plan for 2012 or sooner to move towards subsidised parking in the area, over certain periods or days to help boost towns trade and visitors.
By whom – Exec to outline plan which will be moved by members and town groups.
Proposed Loading Restrictions – After our correspondence to Highways with regard to Loading restrictions which would be placed through the one way system, the group discussed the reply received, and which areas in particular were effected through schedule 1 & 2 of the system in Clwyd St North and South and Upper Clwyd Street. How the businesses were affected , and what parking would be increased or even decreased? Return Correspondence was agreed, and the members voiced their concerns to be given in reply
- Action – Draft letter in Return to Highways By Whom – Chair
Proposal of Town Co-Ordinator
The announcement of a new role of Town Co-Ordinator was delivered to the group, and the role was discussed and proposed, with what the businesses would like to see the role achieve. Such as liaising with groups, and collate information between the towns representative groups to help the recommendation of ideas to help the town's profile and help all the groups co-operate to making the town a strong brand in the area. By feeding through to relative outside sources and publications and to collate information from all the groups to aid them in working together. The group felt that the role should be voluntary to begin with, through a probationary period, and if it proves itself, then this may lay the foundations for creating a paid full time position.
Action – Arrange meeting of Chairs By Whom – Chair / Jeff
The next Chamber of Trade (open) Meeting will be held on December 13th 2011 at 18:30 in Ruthin Castle.
